KidGig Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the KidGig mobile app. By creating an account, you agree to these Terms. If you are creating a Kid account, a parent or guardian should review these Terms with you.

1. Eligibility

Customer accounts must be created by adults (18 or older).
Kid accounts are for users between 13 and 17 years old. KidGig does not permit accounts for anyone under 13.
By creating a Kid account, you represent that you have your parent or guardian's permission to use KidGig, including to receive payment for completed jobs via their Venmo or Zelle account.

2. What KidGig Is (and Isn't)

KidGig is a platform that helps neighbors (Customers) connect with local kids (Kids) for small, informal jobs like yard work, pet sitting, or tutoring. KidGig is not an employer of any Kid, does not supervise the performance of any job, and does not run background checks on Customers or Kids. KidGig does not guarantee the quality, safety, or legality of any job posted or performed through the app.

Safety is your responsibility. Parents/guardians of Kid users are responsible for deciding whether a particular job or Customer is appropriate, and for supervising in-person meetings as they see fit. We encourage meeting in visible, public, or otherwise safe settings, especially for a first job with a new person. If something feels wrong, don't proceed — use the in-app Report and Block features, and involve a parent/guardian immediately.

3. Payments

Customers pay for a completed job through the app via Stripe. The full payment is collected by KidGig.
KidGig manually forwards 90% of the job amount to the Kid's parent/guardian, via the Venmo or Zelle phone number on file, and retains the remaining 10% as a platform fee.
Payouts to a parent/guardian are sent manually and are not instantaneous; timing can vary.
All payments are for the specific job they're attached to. KidGig does not process refunds automatically — contact us if there's a dispute about a completed job.

4. User Conduct

By using KidGig, you agree not to:

Harass, threaten, or abuse another user, in-app or in person
Post false, misleading, or fraudulent job listings or applications
Use the in-app messaging system for anything other than coordinating a posted job
Attempt to circumvent KidGig's payment system to avoid platform fees
Impersonate another person, or misrepresent your age or identity
Use the app for any illegal purpose

Violating these Terms may result in your account being suspended or deleted, at KidGig's discretion, without refund of any pending platform fees owed.

5. Reporting & Blocking

KidGig provides in-app tools to report a user for review and to block a user from messaging you further. We review reports on a best-effort basis but do not guarantee a specific response time or outcome. Blocking and reporting a user doesn't prevent all forms of contact outside the app.

6. Account Termination

You may delete your account at any time from within the app (Profile → Delete Account), which permanently removes your account and associated data. KidGig may also suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms.

7. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

KidGig is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, KidGig is not liable for any harm, loss, injury, or dispute arising from interactions, jobs, or payments arranged through the app, including but not limited to the quality of work performed, the conduct of any user, or delays in payment forwarding.

8. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do. Continued use of KidGig after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

9. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

Note: This document is a starting-point draft generated to reflect KidGig's actual product and payment model as implemented in the app. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer. Given that KidGig facilitates paid, in-person contact between adults and minors — an area with real legal exposure (child labor rules vary by state and job type, and general child-safety expectations are high) — we strongly recommend having these Terms, and the underlying business model, reviewed by an attorney before publishing or submitting the app for review.
